What is the Bangles ceremony about?
Bangles are one of the most important ornaments an Indian woman wears. They are especially important for married women, as they are part of the Suhaag [Bakul?] and are good fortune for her husband. Bangles are traditionally made of glass, gold, or another material. A bride receives green glass bangles in odd numbers at this ceremony, green as they bring creativity, fertility and new life. Additionally they signify her status of being married to the community amongst she lives. Breaking the bangles is a seen as unfortunate.
