People come together and get to know each other in various ways around the world. In Indian weddings, there is often an evening for this called Sangeet. It is a lively evening filled with music, dance, and joyful performances by family and friends. The event is full of fun and laughter, creating unforgettable memories.

Sangeet: Party to get to know each other
Sangeet is the night during the wedding that the families meet and get know each other in an especially fun way. They dance and enjoy. Lot’s of this and what better way to get in the wedding spirit is there?
The evening is about getting to know each other in a relaxed way. Traditionally both the sides of the family (and their friends) prepare performances in small groups. Unofficially it is a dance off between the groom and the brides side of the family. We can’t wait to see what Thom’s family and friends come up with.
I want to attend, what can I do?
The performances at the Sangeet evening can be incredible spectacular but sometimes also very endearing. We do not expect a perfect dance, it’s about being there, having fun, getting to know everyone and doing something for us, the couple. If you do the ‘chickendance’ or an extensive choreography is up to you, we will love it anyway. Find some examples here and sign up.

No problem, you are in good company, with the groom also fitting in this category. No worries we make sure we all know some basic steps and a simple choreography. In order to do this we are organizing some simple dance workshops from the comfort of your home. We will organize some sessions with an instructor online, dsitribute loads of instruction videos for home practise, and we will meet with the same dance instructor in the days leading upto the wedding fro a final run through. So we can get the steps well, can have a good laugh and have fun.
